Project Description

An international operator with producing assets in Equatorial Guinea requested contingency Subsea Repair Clamps for 8” and 10” pipelines. The customer was familiar with IK Subsea products and has a history of orders with IK Subsea, from both our customized and standard product offerings.

IK Subsea Products produce compact integrity clamps to cover a broad range of pressure and temperature scenarios. They are designed, built, and tested for use on infrastructure such as pipelines, normally with smaller defect areas or leaks, such as pinholes.

The customer contacted IK Subsea Products part way through the manufacturing process; the contingency order had morphed into an urgent requirement as pin hole leaks had been identified, with urgent repair required.

The IK Subsea Products team accelerated delivery of the first clamps, exceeding customer expectations. Being part of the IK Subsea Products standard equipment catalogue, the compact integrity clamps had the designs and processes in place in addition to familiarity of the equipment at our manufacturing suppliers. Quality is never compromised at IK Subsea.

The initial contingency order of 4 clamps was increased to 7 clamps total, covering the pin-hole leak situation with a reserve stock to mitigate future problems.

On delivery, the clamps were successfully installed by ROV, with the pin-hole leaks sealed and pipeline integrity restored.

IK Subsea Products Compact Integrity Clamps are designed and built for easy ROV installation and operation. They have multi-purpose functionality to handle most of the typical defects that can be faced on these pipe sizes. The clamps are entirely controlled by hydraulic power.

They are hydraulically opened, closed, locked, and set on the pipeline.

Once the seal is set by use of series-connected torque wrenches, the hydraulics equipment including the open/close cylinder and torque wrenches can be retrieved and re-used, leaving a minimal footprint and envelope on the pipeline.
